WHATEVER HAPPENED TO SHAME?

“So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth of God for a lie.” – Romans 1:24-25 NLT

We have become proud of things we once were ashamed of. We celebrate things that offend God. We watch things on TV that would have made grandma blush and say, “You ought to be ashamed of yourself!” But we’re not. Not anymore.

Somewhere along the line since Janet Jackson’s ‘wardrobe malfunction’, Britney and Madonna’s VMA kiss, Miley’s twerking and J-Lo’s “Booty” – shame got lost. In fact, we don’t tolerate shame. It makes people feel bad.

But shouldn’t we care more about what makes God feel bad - with what offends His holiness? We have “traded the truth of God for a lie.” And, as a society, we’re living more and more as if God either isn’t real, isn’t holy, or doesn’t matter.

That’s not only a shame…that’s scary.

Quote of the Week (3/27/25):

"You may be at the point of giving up. You've been in a fight - not just for days, but maybe for years..."

Maybe it's against your son or daughter's addiction. Maybe you've been fighting for your marriage. You're not just tired; you're exhausted. And your logical mind is telling you, It's hopeless. Give up the fight. I understand. And I empathize with your pain and struggle. But don't drop your sword. And don't give up! Because our God is a restorer of stolen property!

                          - Circle of Swords, Chp 8:

                         FIGHT FOR YOUR FAMILY
